Frequently Asked Questions
What products are in your showroom?
We have a selection of products from most ranges on display in the showroom, this is to give you mainly an idea of the colour and finish of the furniture, however if there is a particular piece or range you would like to view please call first to see if its in.
I've seen your furniture cheaper on another website will you price match?
Yes we will price match against certain companies/websites but not all.
Why some, not all?
Furniture is a fragile commodity, if handled carelessly it can damage easily, so therefore some compainies are cheap but will have a very strict damages/returns policy. Some will even make you arrrange and pay for your own return delivery. Some will send items to you by pallet doorstep drop-off, some will have a premium rate contact number. So check very carefully before you buy.
So how do you differ?
We use our own vans where possible and therefore our own personnel who will be careful, courteous and proffessional. In most cases we will also take away all packaging free of charge as well. Remember - If you have a problem, we will solve it.
So why should I buy from Nicky Cornell?
Well. we may not be the cheapest but we are the best at what we do.
How much do you charge for delivery?
Delivery for orders over £500 is free. However, to enable us to keep this service free, we sometimes send a one man crew. Although these guys are strong they may need a hand to carry some items upstairs.
What items would I have to help with?
Something like a chest of drawers or a sideboard maybe. We can take out drawers to make them lighter but really they are very manageable, our girls in the shop help carry these pieces into the showroom all the time. Flatpack items, most beds, chairs and most tables, for example, are all considered manageable by one delivery guy anyway.
What if I cant offer to help?
2 man delivery crews may or may not carry a nominal charge of £20 depending on the size of order, please call if youre unsure.
I notice your Armoires/Wardrobes come available as flatpack, how does this work?
Well, the Armoires/Wardrobes come into our warehouse fully assembled. We then dismantle them, deliver and we re-assemble the item in your home. It means that theres no need to worry about tight access or an akward staircase.
So is there a charge for this service?
Yes, theres considerable work in it for us, so we charge a very reasonable £40 per wardrobe/Armoire.
How is it that some Armoires are available shorter?
We have a system whereby we can adjust the size of the top carving, which can shorten the overall height by as little as 50mm/1 inch or as much as 180mm/7 inches.
Is there a charge for this?
No this can be done for free, but just let us know when you order.
What does Armoire mean anyway?
Its French for Cupboard or Wardrobe.
If I buy something but dont like it, can I send it back?
You can, but there will be a restocking fee of 20% although this can sometimes be waived if the goods are exchanged for something else.
You seem to be able to offer quicker delivery times than some of your competitors, why is this?
We handle large quantities of our furniture, lighting and accessories, we have regular weekly deliveries from the manufacturers as well as our own direct containers so we can carry stocks of some items in our own warehouse, some ranges are usually available for collection within 7 days or 14 days for home delivery.
So I can collect myself?
Of course, larger items can be collected from our warehouse once we have checked them and smaller items can be collected from the shop, please call to arrange this first though. This can also cut lead times by as much as 3 weeks as you dont have to wait for a delivery slot to become available.
